JUNE NETWORKING NIGHT A SUCCESS

Held at the stylishly contemporary Miramare Gardens on June 28th, the latest Chamber Networking Event was a tremendous success. Attended by over 60 members and their guests, the evening started at 6.30pm with drinks and networking in the spacious lobby of the function centre. Following drinks, participants enjoyed a delicious 2 Course meal in a private function room, the highlight of which was undoubtedly the delicious chocolate profiteroles. As dessert was being served, the guest speaker for the evening, Mary Bova LLB, from Marks Griffiths & Bova Solicitors gave an informative presentation on the importance of estate planning in ensuring the assets one builds up in life are distributed, and managed properly after one passes away. In particular, Mary discussed testamentary trusts, a type of trust included as part of a person's will that amongst other things ensures that assets pass to children even if a surviving husband/wife remarries, and that assets are protected where a beneficiary becomes bankrupt or divorced. This topic proved to be of great interest to the audience and was the topic of much after dinner discussion! In closing her presentation, Mary urged everyone in the audience to ensure they have an up to date will, and to contact their lawyer or accountant if they had any questions regarding estate planning. Marks Griffiths & Bova Solicitors can be contacted on (02) 9977 1133. After dinner, Santo Severino, the owner of Miramre Gardens, took guests on a tour of the recently constructed property, which features a cigar bar, and an extremely large reception hall that seats up to 1000 guests. NEWS FROM THE AJA- ARMENIAN JEWELLERS MEET PRESIDENT

Armenian jewellers meet president Robert Kocharian to strengthen ties between the homeland and Armenians worldwide that practice their ancestral trade.

On June 16, Executive Board members of The Armenian Jewellers Association (AJA) met with the President of the Republic of Armenia in Yerevan , Armenia . The delegation was lead by the newly elected AJA President Gagik Abrahamian of Diamond Company of Armenia .

For millennia, Armenian jewellers have led the region and the world in the development and creation of some of the world’s most beautiful and most sought after jewellery. Today, over 5,000 Armenian companies operate in the trade in the Republic of Armenia and around the world.

The Armenian Jewellers Association was created with the support and guidance of President Kocharian (then Prime Minister of Armenia) and his Minister of Industry and Trade, Garnig Nanagoulian, nine years ago. As President, he remains committed to the continued enrichment and growth of this historic trade in the Armenian world, both within the Republic of Armenia and globally.

At this meeting, AJA Board members announced the establishment of a permanent secretariat for the organisation in the capital city of Yerevan and of other initiatives to make Armenia a regional jewellery centre.

In 2007, Armenian Jewellers will mark the 10th anniversary of AJA with an international symposium in conjunction with the Yerevan Jewellery trade fair. Celebrations will highlight the contribution Armenians have made to this artistic craft over many centuries across the Armenian ancestral homeland and around the world.
